Wire harness design questions
What engineers need to know before using the outputs.
Struct derives documents from explicit project data. It does not invent missing manufacturing facts or approve a harness automatically.
What is wire harness design software?+
Wire harness design software records the connectors, cavities, conductors, cables, splices, terminals, bundles, coverings, lengths, parts, and build information that define a wire harness. Struct keeps those records together and derives drawings, tables, checks, and manufacturing documents from the same project data.
Can Struct create a 1:1 wire harness formboard?+
Yes. Struct creates a controlled 1:1 formboard from explicit dimensions, scale, origin, bundle routes, fixtures, and release data. The manufacturing PDF tiles the board across landscape pages with overlap and a 100 mm calibration bar. Print at 100% and measure the bar before using the board.
Which wire harness manufacturing outputs can Struct generate?+
Struct generates a native spreadsheet workbook with a drawing index, BOM, wiring and cut lists, connector pins, bundles and coverings, labels, netlist, notes, revisions, and configurations. It also generates a manufacturing PDF with the drawing, optional tiled formboard, BOM, wiring and cut tables, labels, netlist, and build notes.
Does Struct automatically approve a harness for production?+
No. Struct checks the entered project data and blocks or flags incomplete release evidence, but an engineer must verify the controlled source data, requirements, parts, tooling, process, test limits, and approval state before production.
Can wire harness projects be kept private or shared with a team?+
Yes. Keep a harness in private browser-only offline mode or store it in an organization workspace with team access, live synchronization, versions, review links, and audit history.
